Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross. I actually started this book on March 21, but I was also reading a couple of others at the same time. I completed this book on April 3.

This story follows Iris and Roman, two rival journalists who have fallen in love in the first book, but have been torn apart during this war between a god and goddess that humans have gotten swept up in. While Roman has been lost behind enemy lines, Iris holds out hope that the magical connection between their typewriters that brought them together in the first place will connect them once again.

The writing was impeccable. The world building fascinated me, with the mix of old world journalism and magic. The character development had me cheering one minute, bawling my eyes out the next.

Though this series took me a little longer to read, I really enjoyed this series. This is not a quick summer read by any means. The characters are dealing with a war, loss, and permanent injuries. They deal with betrayal, greed, lies from those in authority. At the end of the day, they value what’s most important: love. I highly recommend it.
